As of the beginning of 2017 we will be dropping Viostream support for Internet Explorer 9.
This decision has been made based on analysis of our users habit and is in line with our browser support policy.
The above chart illustrates the browser usage within the Viostream console for the 2016 calendar year. Internet Explorer 9 represents only 0.33% of our total usage (significantly below the support 5% support threshold). IE9 as a browser is a bit of an anomaly. The highly popular Windows XP did not support IE9, it shipped with the unpopular Windows Vista. The subsequent Windows 7 shipped with IE10. This is reflected in the global browser usage stats showing IE9 representing only 0.5% of global browser usage in 2016.
The upside is that it will make way for console development which will increase upload performance and improve overall user experience. If you continue to use IE9, it will continue to work as it does today, but moving forward we will no longer be testing to ensure compliance with IE9. The Viostream Player will not be impacted by this change. Browser support for the Viostream Player can be found here.
