Please note that IP routing is an advanced Viostream service which optimises live delivery with organisations with complex networks. Please contact your Customer Success Managers if you have any questions.
Use case: Multiple live servers on different corporate networks or subnets serving internal users. You can assign a route for each specific server (residing in a particular network), all others would be routed to to public service. This provides bandwidth management for your internal network.
Once your live encoder has been provisioned, you can apply IP routing. IP routing is an advanced feature which provides a seamless viewing experience across complex networks. If you have geographically dispersed offices, we recommend setting up an encoder for each office location to get the best viewer experience. Further, this provides a more secure stream as it restricts access to the listed IP addresses.
How to set up IP Routing
Go to the Live tab to set up IP routing. Select the encoder tab.
A list of live encoders will populate. You can select the live encoder once it's finished provisioning. If a live encoder is still being provisioned, then it will be faded and unable to select.
Select the live encoder you'd like to add IP routing.
Follow the steps
Step 1: Add a name for this route
Step 2: Enter the IP range you wish to re-route
Step 3: Select the encoder you wish to use for the re-route
Select update to save this information.
Once complete the IP routing will display on the live encoder tab.
*Once you Clear Encoder, it will remove this IP routing profile. We do not keep a history of IP routing profiles so this action is irreversible.
