Secure your On-Demand media?

Securing your media is a good method to reach the right audience for your videos.

There are different ways to secure your media, and they are all easy and accessible for users with admin rights. Before applying restrictions to your media, the account must have Restriction profiles created. To know more, read our article about securing your media.


A Media can be restricted to a range is Ip Addresses, Domains, Country or Active Directory Groups. Each restriction works in different ways to fit best the needs of your video.

Below are the steps to secure a media with each of the methods Viostream offers.

How to secure media with Ip Range Whitelist?

  1. Navigate to the Media Library page, choose one media to secure and click on the tile of the media. The Media Details page will be displayed
  2. Scroll to the middle of the page, and click on the field Restrictions. A list of available restrictions should be displayed. Restrictions are displayed by groups
  3. Click in one of the Ip Range Whitelist restrictions profile
  4. Click Save.  

Done! Now on this media will only be accessible from users into the Ip Addresses range specified in the restriction profile created. 

If this restriction is no longer relevant, it can be removed by clicking on the No Restrictions option, on the Restrictions field.

How to secure media with Domain Whitelist?

  1. Navigate to the Media Library page, choose one media to secure and click on the tile of the media. The Media Details page will be displayed.
  2. On the left menu, click on Distribution.
  3. Scroll to the middle of the page, and click on the field Domain Whitelist. A list of available restriction by domain should be displayed. 
  4. Click in one of the Domains Whitelist restrictions profile.

Done! Now on this media will only be available when embedded and to a page on the domain specified on the restriction created. To know more about restriction profiles check our article Securing your media.

If this restriction is no longer relevant, it can be removed by clicking on the restriction title on the Domain Whitelist field


How to secure media with Country Whitelist?

  1. Navigate to the Media Library page, choose one media to secure and click on the tile of the media. The Media Details page will be displayed.
  2. Scroll to the middle of the page, and click on the field Restrictions. A list of available restrictions should be displayed. Restrictions are displayed by groups.
  3. Click in one of the Country Whitelist restrictions profile.
  4. Click Save.

Done! This media now is restricted to be displayed in the domain selected on the Restriction profile selected.


How to secure media with AD Group Whitelist?

  1. Navigate to the Media Library page, choose one media to secure and click on the tile of the media. The Media Details page will be displayed.
  2. Scroll to the middle of the page, and click on the field Restrictions. A list of available restrictions should be displayed. Restrictions are displayed by groups.
  3. Click in one of the AD Group Whitelist restrictions profile.
  4. Click Save.

Only users within that AD Group will be able to access the media.

If this restriction is no longer relevant, it can be removed by clicking on the No Restrictions option on the Restriction field.
