TLS 1.2 End of Support

Viostream will be discontinuing support for TLS 1.2 across all customer-facing services on 31 October 2026. From this date, all connections to Viostream -- including video playback, embeds, the API, and the management console -- will require TLS 1.3.

Why we're making this change​

TLS 1.3 is the current industry-standard protocol for securing data in transit. Moving to a TLS 1.3-only configuration lets us:

  • Remove outdated cipher suites and key exchange methods that are no longer considered best practice
  • Reduce our exposure to legacy protocol vulnerabilities
  • Lay the groundwork for post-quantum cryptography -- TLS 1.3 is required to support the new quantum-resistant key exchange algorithms (ML-KEM) that AWS and the broader industry are rolling out, protecting your data against future "harvest now, decrypt later" threats from quantum computing

Who this affects​

TLS 1.3 has been supported by all major browsers and platforms for several years, so most integrations will be unaffected. You may need to take action if you have:

  • Custom server-side integrations or scripts that pin an older TLS version
  • Legacy devices, SDKs, or embedded systems that only support TLS 1.2 or earlier
  • Corporate proxies or firewalls that restrict outbound TLS versions

What you need to do​

Check whether your environment supports TLS 1.3 using our TLS 1.3 support check from the client or environment you use to connect to Viostream. Alternatively, howsmyssl.com provides a similar third-party check. If it reports an older version, update your client or network path before 31 October 2026.
