Enable Multi-Factor Authentication

note

If your workspace uses SSO, MFA is controlled by your identity provider — not by Viostream. This guide applies to accounts that log in directly with a Viostream username and password.

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) requires a second verification step when signing in, using a Time-based One-time Password (TOTP) app such as:

  • Google Authenticator
  • Microsoft Authenticator
  • Authy

Enable MFA

  1. Click your name or avatar in the top navigation bar.
  2. Select My settings from the menu.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Follow the instructions in the Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) panel — you will be prompted to scan a QR code with your authenticator app.
  5. Enter the code generated by your app to confirm setup.

MFA is active on your account immediately after confirmation.

Sign In with MFA Enabled

When MFA is enabled, after entering your email and password you will be prompted to enter the current code from your authenticator app. Codes refresh every 30 seconds.

Disable MFA

To disable MFA, return to the Security tab in your personal settings and use the option to remove MFA from your account. You may be asked to enter your current MFA code to confirm the change.

warning

Disabling MFA reduces the security of your account. Only do this if you intend to replace it with another authentication method such as SSO.
