Manage Encoders
Encoders are managed from the Encoders tab in Settings. Each encoder in your workspace is a dedicated RTMP ingest endpoint assigned to your account by Viostream.
View encoder details
To retrieve the RTMP connection details for an encoder:
- Navigate to Settings → Encoders.
- Locate your encoder and click View Details.
- The Encoder Details modal shows:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Stream Key | Authenticates your encoder with Viostream. Keep this private. |
| RTMP Input A | Ingest URL for Availability Zone A. Use this in your streaming software. |
| RTMP Input B | Ingest URL for Availability Zone B (redundant encoders only). Enables Viostream to fail between two zones. |
| HLS Output | The outgoing HLS stream URL (for advanced integrations). |
- Use the copy icon next to each field to copy the value.
Viostream's live stream is designed for high availability. Send the same content to stream A and B, and we will automatically fail over if there are any connection or encoding issues, without interrupting your stream.
Encoder status
Each encoder card in the list shows its current status:
- Encoder is offline — not connected; no streaming software is sending to this encoder
- Connected — streaming software is connected and ready
- Streaming — actively broadcasting
Adding or removing encoders
Encoders are provisioned by Viostream. To request additional encoders for your workspace, contact Customer Success via the Live Chat in the Viostream console.
SRT ingest
RTMP ingest is available to all accounts. SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) ingest is available on request — contact Customer Success to enable SRT on your encoder.
