Monitor Your Encoder
Viostream polls your encoder in real time and displays its current status on the live stream detail page. You do not need to refresh — status updates automatically.
Encoder status
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Offline | Your encoder software is not connected to Viostream. No video is being received. |
| Connected | Your encoder is connected and sending a signal. Ready to go live. |
| Streaming | An active session is running and your broadcast is live to viewers. |
What to do if the encoder shows Offline
- Check your encoder software — confirm OBS (or your encoder) is running and streaming to Viostream.
- Check your RTMP URL and stream key — go to Settings → Encoders → View Details and confirm the values match what is configured in your encoder software.
- Check your network and firewall — RTMP uses port 1935 (or 4481/4581 for the Viostream RTMPS endpoints). Confirm these ports are not blocked by your network or firewall.
- Restart your encoder software — stop and restart OBS (or your encoder) and check if the status updates.
What to do if status drops to Connected during a broadcast
If the encoder drops from Streaming to Connected mid-broadcast, your encoder software has stopped sending video but is still connected.
- In OBS, check the stream status bar at the bottom — if it shows an error, stop and restart streaming.
- Viewers will see the live slate until the encoder returns to Streaming.
What to do if status drops to Offline during a broadcast
If the encoder goes Offline during a live session, your stream has disconnected. Viewers will see the live slate.
- Check your network connection.
- Restart your encoder software and reconnect.
- Once the encoder shows Connected, the session will resume automatically if it is still Active in Viostream.
