Clip a Session

Clips let you extract segments from a session recording and publish them as standalone videos in your media library.

note

Clipping becomes available approximately 2 minutes after a session starts recording — the recording must reach a minimum length before clips can be created.

Open the clip editor​

  1. Navigate to Live in the Viostream Console.
  2. Open the live stream and locate the session you want to clip.
  3. Click View Session on the session card.
  4. On the session detail page, click Create Clip under the CLIPS section.

The full-screen clip editor opens with the session recording loaded.

Set the clip range​

The clip editor shows a timeline of the full session recording. A highlighted region represents your clip selection, with a handle at each end.

  1. Drag the Clip start handle (left) to where you want the clip to begin.
  2. Drag the Clip end handle (right) to where you want the clip to end.
  3. Use the playhead to scrub through the recording and check your selection.

You can adjust either handle at any time before saving.

Add clip details​

Fill in the fields on the right-hand panel:

FieldDescription
TitleName of the clip as it appears in your media library.
SummaryOptional. A short description of the clip content.
TagsOptional. Add tags to help categorise the clip.
Reference IDOptional. Your own identifier — useful for matching clips to external systems.

Save the clip​

Click Create Clip. The clip is saved to your media library immediately. The editor stays open so you can set a new range and create additional clips from the same session without navigating away.

View all clips for a session​

Click All Clips in the clip editor, or return to the session detail page and scroll to the CLIPS section. All clips created from that session are listed there.
