Importing Videos from Zoom

Zoom logoViostream triangle

Viostream makes it easy to import your recordings directly from Zoom without having to download them to your computer first. This feature is particularly useful for large recording files or when you have limited local storage space.

Prerequisites

Before you can import from Zoom, ensure you have:

  • A Viostream account with upload permissions
  • A Zoom account with cloud recordings you want to import
  • Recordings in supported formats (MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV, etc.)

Step-by-Step Import Process

1. Access the Upload Interface

  1. Log in to your Viostream account
  2. Navigate to your  Library
  3. Click the Add Media button
  4. Select Zoom from the upload options
Upload interface showing cloud storage options

2. Connect to Zoom

  1. In the upload interface, click on the Zoom icon
  2. If this is your first time connecting, you'll be prompted to authorise Viostream to access your Zoom account
  3. Click Allow to grant permission
  4. You'll be redirected back to Viostream once authorisation is complete

3. Browse Your Zoom Recordings

Once connected, you can:

  • Navigate recordings: Browse through your Zoom cloud recordings
  • Search files: Use the search function to find specific recordings

4. Select Recordings to Import

  1. Single selection: Click on a recording file to select it
  2. Multiple selection: Click the checkboxes to select multiple files

5. Start the Import

  1. Click Select
  2. The import process will begin
  3. Progress indicators will show the status of each file
  4. When the import is complete, your recordings will begin processing

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Authentication Problems

If you can't connect to Zoom:

  1. Clear browser cache: Remove stored authentication data
  2. Check permissions: Ensure Viostream has proper Zoom access
  3. Re-authorise: Disconnect and reconnect your Zoom account
  4. Browser compatibility: Try a different browser if issues persist

Import Failures

If files fail to import:

  1. Check file format: Ensure recordings are in supported formats
  2. Network connection: Ensure stable internet connectivity
  3. Zoom sharing: Make sure recordings aren't restricted or corrupted
  4. Recording availability: Ensure recordings haven't expired

Slow Import Speeds

To improve import performance:

  1. Import during off-peak hours: Avoid busy network times
  2. Smaller batches: Import fewer files at once
  3. Check Zoom limits: Zoom may throttle large transfers
  4. Stable connection: Use wired connection instead of Wi-Fi where possible

Best Practices

Before Importing

  • Organise in Zoom: Structure your recordings before importing
  • Check recording quality: Ensure recordings are the quality you want
  • Plan folder structure: Decide how to organise in Viostream
  • Review metadata: Have descriptions and tags ready

During Import

  • Monitor progress: Keep an eye on import status
  • Don't close browser: Keep the browser tab open during import
  • Avoid network disruption: Maintain stable internet connection
  • Import in batches: Don't overwhelm the system with too many files

After Import

  • Verify uploads: Check that all files imported correctly
  • Add metadata: Complete descriptions, tags, and custom fields
  • Set permissions: Configure sharing and privacy settings
  • Organise content: Move files to appropriate folders if needed

File Format Support

Viostream supports importing these recording formats from Zoom:

  • MP4 (recommended)
  • MOV
  • AVI
  • WMV
  • MKV
  • WEBM

Security and Privacy

Data Protection

  • Files are securely transferred using encrypted connections
  • Viostream doesn't store your Zoom credentials
  • You can revoke access at any time through Zoom settings

Access Control

  • Imported files inherit your default privacy settings
  • You can change permissions after import
  • Consider who should have access before importing sensitive content
