Event readiness checklist

Run through this checklist before you go live, whether it's your first event or your fiftieth.

Testing your stream

Open the Director and start your encoder. When it is ready, start your streaming software. While your event is still in Pre-Event, the Director's monitor shows your Encoder feed rather than what viewers see — use this to check your stream before anyone's watching:

  • Video quality — resolution, bitrate, and framing look right
  • Audio levels — audio is present, not clipping, and not too quiet
  • Audio/video sync — sound lines up with picture, with no noticeable lag

Fix any issues in your streaming software or encoder hardware and re-check before moving on.

Syncing your slides

If you're using slides, set your Slide Delay so pushed slides line up with what viewers actually see — see Syncing your slides for how to measure and set it.

Choosing your first slide

Open the Slides tab in the Director and click the slide you want viewers to see first to set it as the Opening Slide — see Slides for details.

Ready your stream

Once you're happy with the test, update your live stream to show with a holding slate or graphic if you'd like one to appear when you go live.

Ready? Go live

Once everything above is checked off, click Go Live in the Director. Viewers watching your Pre-Event content switch to the live broadcast instantly. See Running your event with the Director for the full step.
