Syncing your slides
The Slide Delay control tells Viostream how far behind real time your encoder's preview runs, so slides you push line up with what viewers actually see. Get this right before you go live.
Why this is needed
Video processing hardware, network transmission, and encoding all add delay between the moment your camera captures a frame and the moment it appears in the Director's Encoder preview. This delay varies by setup, so there's no single correct value — you need to measure it for your own stream.
Measuring the delay
The easiest way to measure the delay is to use a clock or stopwatch.
- Start a stopwatch (most phones have one built in) and hold it up to your camera, so it's part of your stream.
- Open the Slides tab in the Director and watch the Encoder feed.
- Compare the time showing on the stopwatch in the preview to the actual time on the stopwatch right now — the difference, rounded to the nearest second, is your delay.
Setting the delay
Still on the Slides tab, use the Slide Delay + / − controls to enter that number of seconds.
